The Tewson tree
Frederick Leslie Close Pollock was born on 15th January 1878 at no. 1 Haymount Street, Leeds. He was a mining company clerk at the time of his marriage but later moved to a stock exchange firm. One day he was snapped on his way to work near London Bridge.


He married Annie Gertrude Tewson. She had been born on 23rd April 1878 at 3 Cambridge Grove, Penge, probably shortly before her twin sister Alice Maud. The family soon moved to Croydon and later to New Cross. Annie’s father William Tewson, son of John Tewson, gentleman, was a schoolmaster in Forest Hill when he married Lydia Smith Orton, the daughter of Thomas Smith Orton, a merchant.
The marriage took place at St James, Hatcham, London, on 22nd January 1910. He was living at 320 Devonshire Road, Honor Oak Park. She was living at 36 St Donatts Road, New Cross. By 2 April 1911 (census day) they were living at 118 St Asaph Road, Brockley, London. They had three children:
Marjorie Winifred Pollock (7th December 1910 – 2nd July 1971)
William Leslie Pollock (6th August 1913 – 2nd November 2003) He was born at St Asaph’s Road, Brockley and was always known as Leslie.
Frank Reginald Orton Pollock (29th September 1916 – 4th March 1988).
Frederick Leslie Close Pollock died on 8 June 1964, Annie thirteen days later on 21 June 1964.
Leslie married Dorothy Holt (22.4.14-30.4.95) on 4 November 1939, and they had four children: David (b.1942), Kenneth (b.1944) , Malcolm (b.1947) and Geoffrey (b.1952), each of whom is married and has children.
